Fantasy Island: Colonialism, Exploitation, and the Betrayal of Puerto Rico

Since my latest book, Fantasy Island: Colonialism, Exploitation and the Betrayal of Puerto Rico (Bold Type Press) went on sale last September, I’ve had an amazing time doing talks and interacting with people who are passionate about the island-nation. The book is a historical overview of Puerto Rico’s colonial relationship with the U.S. including a detailed explanation of the accumulation of the island’s $72 billion debt. In fact, the deep background behind the current political crisis in Puerto Rico is a central theme of Fantasy Island.

I’ve gotten considerable attention about the book, and I’ve assembled some interviews with me published in The New York Times, New York magazine, and Mother Jones, as well as several appearances I made on radio and television. You can access those by going here: https://edmorales.net/fantasy-island-media-clips/

Also, in November the book was published in Spanish as La Isla de la Fantasia, and I will have a separate page for Spanish-language press soon.
